Rubber, Mitigation of Challenging Diseases; Early Maturity – Thailand

A rubber plantation in Thailand has many rubber trees over 20 years old with BNS, the Bark Necrosis syndrome, which leads to a sharp fall in latex production and substantial economic losses. Over the years, many of these diseased trees have been eliminated and replaced with young rubber trees that do not produce latex. The plantation manager applied OCC as a foliar spray and soil conditioner weekly on selected trees with the BNS conditions and young, immature trees to observe the outcome. After the application, the BNS conditions were reversed, and young trees also started producing latex.
